I learned that cinnamon comes from the bark of a tree… but why do the stores sell so much ground cinnamon?

DIRECTIONS

  1. Stir in yeast to warm milk to combine and set aside as the yeast blooms.

  2. In a separate bowl whisk together flour, salt, and sugar. Add in eggs and butter to the flour mixture and mix till well combined. Mixture should be crumbly.

  3. Add the yeast and milk mixture into the flour mixture and mix. After a loose dough is made, knead for about 5 mins till the dough looses its stickiness and comes together. Cover the dough and let it rest in a warm place for about an hour and a half.

  4. For the filling, whip together brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until light and well combined.

  5. Once the dough has risen, lightly flour the surface and roll out the dough about 1/4 inches thin (into a large rectangle shape). Evenly spread out the filling onto the dough.

  6. Slowly roll the dough up from one end up. Once you have rolled the dough, cut into even rolls and place into a greased pan and cover and let them rise for another hour.

  7. Preheat the oven to 325 F.

  8. For the icing, whip together the cream cheese and butter until well combined.

  9. Add in the icing sugar half a cup at a time alternating with 2 tbsps of milk and whip.

  10. Once all the sugar has been combined with the cream, add in the vanilla and whip the icing together.

  11. Bake the rolls for 20 mins.

  12. Once the rolls have baked, cover the buns with icing and enjoy your cinnamon rolls!
